JUST FRIENDS

Life was never hectic like this for Anubhav. Everything was manageable except the bullying boss. He was ready to take up challenges; give his cent percent effort for organization but not a nagging superior like Mr. Pradan. After completion of his M.B.A from a premium B-school, he joined a multinational car manufacturing company. High pay package, sustainable growth of the industry and the job of a project manager- what else one could have expected from the campus recruitment? However, life did not take much time to become a nightmare for him once he joined his job. All his ambitions are now reverie. Suddenly Anubhav turned around with the touch of a warm hand. He was astonished to see Manish at the bus stop. “Oh Manish! What a pleasant surprise,” he exclaimed. He knew Manish from the day he joined his management course and why should not be? God might have sent a few friends like him. Manish was well known for his values, principles and helping nature in their institution. For the last six months, they did not have any contact. “What are you doing here?” ,Manish said to Anubhav.HRM was Manish’s passion and he got placed in a multinational airline company as H.R. manager. Anubhav did not have latest news about him after that. Suddenly the N-96 mobile phone started ringing. Anubhav received the call reluctantly. With a few responses, he put back the mobile phone in his pocket. The darkness of his face became prominent. Being an H.R. manager Manish guessed the situation of his friend. “What is wrong my friend?”, he asked instantly. In spite of going to office, Manish took his friend to a nearby cafeteria. “Two coffees with chocolate flavor,” Manish ordered the waiter. Manish knew Anubhab’s taste. They were permanent coffee customers of their college canteen. Green lash campus with three hostels, two college buildings, library, canteen, grocery shop, A.T.M, sports complex and out door games field-these were their world for two years. Sleep was what they never dreamt of. However, unfortunately “time and tide wait for none.” Those weekend parties will always linger in their minds but where is the zeal, which motivated them to be a dynamic member of the corporate world? He did not know this Anubhav earlier. Anubhav started mourning about his new job. He depicted everything was perfect except his bullying boss. His autocracy is beyond limitation and no employee can go against him. The reason is simple “good relation with top management”, he added. However, he does not want to quit his job before completion of one year. Manish understood his friend’s situation and thought for a minute. His opened his laptop and glanced at the database from reference excel sheet. “You work for Jallon excel co. and Mr. Pradan is your boss?”, he asked Anubhav. “Yes, but why are you asking me?” Manish smiled at Anubhav. “I think I can help you out. My boss has very good relationship with Mr. Pradan”, he replied. Manish felt lucky to work under Mr. Sahai, his immediate boss. They exchanged their cards and left the cafeteria for office. Manish wanted to drop Anubhav but he was refused. Manish remembered the last day of their M.B.A life.
